Ukraine has seen a significant increase in the cost of table beet, which is now almost one and a half times more expensive than in the same period last year. The main factors behind the price increase were the reduction in stocks of quality products and growing demand among wholesale buyers and retail chains.

According to EastFruit analysts, farmers are currently selling beets at a price of 17 to 22 UAH/kg ($0.22-0.33/kg). This is 10% more expensive than a week ago. The main reason for this price jump is the decrease in the volume of commercial-quality beets, as agricultural producers report that stocks in their own storage facilities are running out.

At the same time, demand for beets continues to grow. Trading companies and processing plants are actively looking for new suppliers, which allows producers to dictate prices. The shortage of products increases competition among buyers, which only contributes to a further increase in prices.

The average price of beets is already 51% higher than last year's level, and experts predict that the upward trend will continue. Some producers have already announced their intention to raise prices in the coming days, as the market remains in short supply and stocks on farms are rapidly decreasing.

Market analysts note that further growth in the cost of table beets will depend on the availability of products from farmers. If stocks are depleted at the same pace, prices may increase even more, especially on the eve of the spring period, when there is traditionally increased demand from processing enterprises.

The situation on the beet market reflects general trends in the field of fruit and vegetable products in Ukraine. The shortage of quality vegetables, the influence of seasonal factors and high competition for goods between traders may further push prices up.
