In Ukraine, prices for various types of meat have increased, in particular beef, bacon and lard. According to data published by the Khvylya agency, prices for some meat products in Ukrainian supermarkets have shown a noticeable increase.
In particular, the average price for beef goulash increased from UAH 304.08 per kilogram in January to UAH 313.98 in February. The increase also affected beef ribs, the price of which rose from UAH 172.29 to UAH 175.45 per kilogram. This indicates a general trend towards an increase in the cost of meat products on the domestic market.
A more significant increase in prices was observed for Ukrprompostach bacon. If in January the average price per kilogram of bacon was 434.67 UAH, then at the beginning of February it rose to 459.37 UAH. At the same time, bacon prices can vary depending on the supermarket: for example, in the Megamarket chain the price of bacon is 445.20 UAH, while in Novus it reaches 479.00 UAH.
As for lard, the prices for this product have not undergone significant changes. Homemade lard has increased in price by only 1 UAH, from 232.93 UAH to 234.00 UAH per kilogram. However, salted lard has become slightly cheaper, decreasing from 248.34 UAH to 242.84 UAH per kilogram.
Despite the general increase in the price of meat products, lard prices have remained stable or even decreased, which may indicate the peculiarities of demand for this product in the market. In general, the increase in meat prices is a concern among consumers, as it reflects changes in the economic situation in the country.
The increase in meat prices in Ukraine is likely to continue unless economic factors such as inflation, the cost of animal feed or energy prices change, which also affect the cost of meat products.
