As of the end of March 2025, Ukraine had sent over 280 thousand tons of agricultural products as part of President Volodymyr Zelensky's initiative Grain from Ukraine. This humanitarian project was another confirmation that even in times of war, Ukraine remains a reliable international partner in the fight against global hunger, especially in the most vulnerable regions of the world.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, products were transferred to several African and Middle Eastern countries within the framework of the program. In particular, Mozambique received 415.9 tons of vegetable oil, Palestine - 553 tons of wheat flour, and Syria - 4,400 tons of the same products.
According to the World Food Program (WFP), the delivery to Syria will provide basic products to over 59 thousand Syrians for at least half a year. This is especially important against the backdrop of the humanitarian crisis that the country is experiencing after years of conflict.
Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitaly Koval emphasized that the Grain from Ukraine initiative is an example of international solidarity from a country that is itself experiencing military aggression. Ukraine is not only defending its own territory, but also continues to help others overcome the consequences of global food challenges.
The total value of supplies in 2025 reached 331 million US dollars. The program is financed in rounds, and the third of them is currently underway. Its budget is 35.5 million dollars provided by 29 donor countries. This allows maintaining stability and efficiency in the supply of critically important products.
As part of the next stage of the program, new volumes of aid will be delivered to Bangladesh, Chad, Mozambique, Pakistan and Syria. The total funding for this stage is 18.8 million US dollars - these funds have already been confirmed by Canada, Sweden, Portugal and Spain. Ukraine continues to consistently expand the geography of support, demonstrating its role as a global guarantor of food security.
