A trend of falling carrot prices is observed in Ukraine, which is associated with the active sale of crop residues from storage facilities. Over the past week, the cost of this vegetable has decreased by 10% compared to the previous period.
This was reported by EastFruit analysts, noting that currently farmers are selling carrots at a price of 25-32 UAH/kg (equivalent to $0.60-0.77/kg). The main factor in the drop in price was the increase in the supply of products that have partially lost their quality due to the unusually warm winter.
Experts explain that small farms that are unable to ensure long-term high-quality storage are forced to sell carrots at reduced prices in order to avoid losses. At the same time, large producers who own modern storage facilities are currently refraining from selling, hoping for market stabilization.
Despite the decrease in price, the current price of carrots is still about three times higher than in March 2024. However, the market situation remains unstable: industry participants do not rule out a further decrease in price due to low demand.
Analysts predict that the price may remain under pressure in the near future if farmers continue to actively sell off stocks. If the supply of high-quality products increases, the price of carrots may stabilize or increase closer to the start of the new season.
The situation on the Ukrainian vegetable market continues to develop, and consumers should closely monitor price dynamics, as seasonality and climatic factors play a key role in shaping the cost of agricultural products.
