At the beginning of March 2025, Ukraine recorded a significant increase in dairy prices. Compared to last year, most dairy products have become more expensive, which negatively affects consumers. This was reported by the Milk Producers Association, noting that although prices remain high, discounts are expected in March, which may revive demand for products of domestic dairy processing enterprises in the domestic market.
In particular, among the dairy products that have become more expensive, pasteurized milk has risen the most. The average price of milk with a fat content of 2.5% was UAH 59.05 per kg, which is 8% more compared to February and 28% more compared to March 2024. Prices for other products also showed a significant increase.
Thus, the price of kefir with a fat content of 2.5% increased by 3%, reaching UAH 69.04 per kg. This is also 30% more than last year. Sour cream with a fat content of 15% increased in price by 4% to UAH 168.56 per kg, which is 33% more than last year.
A significant increase was also recorded for drinking yogurt, the price of which was UAH 109.12 per kg, which is 5% more than in February and 21% more than in March 2024. Yogurt in glasses, in turn, decreased by 1% compared to the end of January 2025, but is still 20% more expensive than last year.
It should be noted separately that prices for various types of cheese also increased. Thus, the average price of 9% fat-free cheese was UAH 271.68 per kg, which is 1.2% more compared to February, and 19% more than last year.
Maasdam cheese, Gouda cheese and mozzarella of Ukrainian production became more expensive by 3-8% compared to February. Thus, the average price of Maasdam cheese increased to UAH 672.85 per kg, Gouda - to UAH 597.00 per kg, and mozzarella - to UAH 561.82 per kg. This is also 28-35% more than in March 2024.
Prices for 73% fat-free butter also did not escape the increase - the average price was UAH 566.29 per kg, which is 4% more compared to February and 40% more compared to last year. This indicates a general trend of increasing the cost of dairy products in Ukraine.
Given this price increase, economists note that such changes may lead to a decrease in demand for dairy products among the population, which, in turn, may affect the market of dairy processing enterprises. However, according to forecasts, discounts are possible in March, which may slightly alleviate the situation.
