Dairy product prices in Ukraine continue to grow in 2025, and butter was no exception. As of February 2025, the cost of a 180-gram pack of butter with a fat content of 72.5% varies from 100 to 127 hryvnias, depending on the manufacturer and retail chain. This is 6.48% more than at the beginning of the year, when the average price was 108 hryvnias.
According to the monthly price monitoring data published on February 24 by the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club Association (UKAB), in February the average price of butter increased to 115 hryvnias. However, it is worth noting that since the beginning of 2023, prices for this product have increased significantly more - by almost 60%. Thus, in February 2023, a pack of butter cost 68.2 hryvnias, and at the beginning of 2024 it was already 71.9 hryvnias.
The increase in the cost of butter is not an isolated case. A similar trend is observed in other dairy products, which confirms the general situation on the market. The reason for this is seasonal fluctuations in production, as well as changes in demand and supply in the domestic market.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Dairy Association explain that at the beginning of the year, a decrease in production activity and demand for dairy products after the New Year holidays led to a temporary decrease in prices for raw materials and finished products. However, with the resumption of production processes and an increase in demand, prices began to rise again, which is reflected in the retail market.
Let us recall that to calculate the average cost of butter, the Ukrainian Dairy Association used data from such sources as the Ministry of Finance, Zakaz.ua, Novus, METRO, MegaMarket, ATB, as well as the Stolichny and Shuvar markets. This data helps analysts accurately determine average prices for dairy products and identify market trends.
Therefore, Ukrainians can expect further increases in prices for butter and other dairy products in the coming months, which is confirmed by the general economic situation and seasonal fluctuations in the market.
