A significant decrease in prices for chicken eggs has been recorded in Ukraine. Since the beginning of 2025, the average cost of the product has decreased by almost 10 hryvnias, which corresponds to a drop of 12.92%. As of February, a dozen eggs of category C1 cost from 58.7 to 88.5 hryvnias, depending on the region and supermarket.
According to the Association "Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business" (UCAB), in January the average price of a dozen was 76.6 hryvnias, while in mid-February it dropped to 66.7 hryvnias. This indicates a gradual stabilization of the market after the holiday period, when prices traditionally rise due to increased demand.
According to monitoring, the most expensive eggs were in December 2024, when their cost reached 78 hryvnias for 10 pieces. Current prices, although they have decreased, are still 7% higher than in January 2023.
UCAB experts explain this decrease by the restoration of production volumes after the holiday rush. During the New Year and Christmas holidays, demand for eggs increased significantly, which temporarily caused a price increase. However, in February, the situation stabilized, and producers were able to increase the supply of products to the market, which contributed to a decrease in prices.
The association also noted that when calculating the average cost of eggs, data from various sources was used, including the Ministry of Finance, Zakaz.ua, Novus, METRO, MegaMarket, ATB, as well as the wholesale markets “Stolichny” and “Shuvar”.
Given the stabilization of the market, experts predict a further decrease or maintenance of prices at the current level, unless force majeure changes occur in logistics or production.
