After a sharp rise in apple prices in Ukraine, analysts of the EastFruit project have recorded the beginning of their decline.
According to the report, the negative trend in prices is observed mainly in the segment of low-quality fruit, which farmers do not store in storage due to the low quality of products.
According to the data, since the beginning of this week, the minimum prices for apples have fallen to UAH 8 per kilogram. At the same time, higher quality apples are maintained at UAH 10-15 per kilogram.
This week, such varieties as Jonagold and Renet Simirenko appeared to be "outsiders", while Gala and Golden Delicious were offered at higher prices.
Ukrainian apples continue to be exported, although the volumes are still small.
"Today, these are not yet significant volumes, but the geography of countries buying Ukrainian apples has the potential to expand this season, which could lead to an increase in exports. This will largely depend on the price situation and logistics capabilities this season," analysts say.
Last season, Ukrainian apples were practically absent in the markets of Southeast Asia, but were actively supplied to the Middle East and Central Asia.
According to experts, today's selling prices for apples in Ukraine are actually in line with last year's level.
"This situation with cheaper prices is temporary, as apple prices may rise again with the onset of cold weather," analysts predict.
According to agricultural market experts, although apple prices will remain within an affordable range in the fall, we should not expect a significant decline, as energy and logistics costs are important factors.
