Ukraine is witnessing a rapid increase in prices for greenhouse cucumbers, and this trend is associated with a limited supply of these products with increased demand. This is reported by the analytical project EastFruit.
According to key market participants, the shortage of greenhouse cucumbers is causing a new price increase in this segment, as the amount of this product supplied to local factories is limited.
On the other hand, demand for greenhouse cucumbers remains high.
Ukrainian greenhouse plants are currently offering cucumbers at prices ranging from UAH 63 to 75 per kilogram, which is 10% higher on average than at the end of the previous business week.
Market analysts attribute this positive price trend to high demand in this segment.
"As the cold weather is still prevailing in most of Ukraine, the harvest of cucumbers on local farms is small. This gives producers the opportunity to raise prices for this product almost every day," analysts say.
It is worth noting that even after the latest price increase, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are on average 10% cheaper than at the end of October 2022.
"However, market operators do not rule out the possibility of further price increases for these products by greenhouse plants, provided that the current sales rates are maintained," the experts emphasize.
