Slovakia and Ukraine have reached a compromise on the issue of restrictions on imports of Ukrainian goods, which consists in the creation of a system of licensing grain trade. The ministers of agriculture of Slovakia, Josef Bires, and Ukraine, Mykola Solsky, agreed on this new system, which provides for the issuance and control of licenses for grain trade.
This agreement resolves the issue of the ban on imports of four Ukrainian products to Slovakia and aims to establish more transparent and regulated conditions for the exchange of grain crops between the countries.
The Slovak ministry emphasized that although the agreement has already been concluded, the grain licensing system must be implemented and tested before it is finally launched. Thus, the restrictions on imports of Ukrainian goods remain in effect until the new system is introduced.
This agreement opens up prospects for further development of grain trade between Ukraine and Slovakia, as well as facilitates trade in agricultural products.
Additionally, Ukraine has committed to suspend its complaint against these restrictions at the World Trade Organization (WTO). This demonstrates the readiness of both countries to cooperate and resolve trade issues through dialogue and compromise.
