With the onset of autumn, prices for slaughter pigs in Ukraine began to show positive dynamics. This is reported by the Pig Producers of Ukraine Association on the basis of weekly monitoring of prices in the live market.

Pig farm operators note that purchase prices have largely stabilized at the level of 82.5 to 84.5 UAH per kilogram, and regional price variability has become less pronounced. The weighted average purchase price is 83.3 UAH per kilogram, which is 4% higher than last week.

"Pork producers note increased interest from wholesale buyers amid a limited supply of conditioned pork. Many suppliers are experiencing a shortage of live batches, and the average weight of animals at slaughter often remains below 110 kilograms, which in turn reduces the amount of meat raw materials for meat processors. This situation generates high competition between suppliers for available goods and leads to higher prices," the EBA said.

In general, these positive trends in the pig market have encouraged producers and increased their income. Rising prices may also motivate more active pig farming activities, which will contribute to the further development of this industry.
