This week in Ukraine, the prices of raspberries fell significantly. According to the analysts of the EastFruit project, Ukrainian gardeners announced prices for raspberries in the range of UAH 35-60/kg.
According to market participants, the collapse of raspberry prices was expected, but the limits of price reduction have not yet been reached.
"The main reason for the negative price trend in this segment is the rapid growth of the supply of local berries compared to the demand for raspberries," analysts note.
Ukrainian gardeners announced prices for raspberries in the range of UAH 35-60/kg, which is on average 27% cheaper than at the end of last week.
"At the same time, the majority of farmers are already refusing to pick berries, since the purchase price of raspberries has already fallen to UAH 35/kg on the fresh market, and berries are bought for freezing in the range of UAH 17/kg," analysts emphasize.
It is noted that Ukrainian gardeners are unconsciously growing raspberries, since the current price range does not even cover the costs of picking berries.
According to EastFruit monitoring, today raspberries in Ukraine are already 60% cheaper on average than in the same period last year.
"If the situation with the sales volume of berries does not improve, then negative price trends in this segment will continue to prevail," analysts say.
