Prices for pork in supermarkets increased in June, according to analysts of the Pig Producers of Ukraine Association. According to their data, retail prices for chilled pork semi-finished products increased by an average of 2% this month.

During the first month of summer, pork prices in retail chains increased by 3.4 UAH/kg or 1.7% on average. While at the beginning of the month a kilogram of chilled pork cost 202.7 UAH/kg, by the end of June its price rose to 206.07 UAH/kg. The average price for the analyzed period was 204.6 UAH/kg, which is 1% higher than in May.

The Pig Producers of Ukraine Association notes that not all types of pork have experienced the same price increase. The price of the hip part has risen significantly, the price of which at the end of the month amounted to 192.15 UAH/kg, which is 4.6% or 8.4 UAH/kg higher than at the beginning of the month. However, significant fluctuations in prices for this type of meat during May and June reduced the difference between the monthly averages to 1.3%.

In addition, the price of the neck increased by 5.3 UAH/kg (2.1%) and amounted to 255.9 UAH/kg at the end of the month. It is noted that this seasonally demanded position has risen significantly compared to the average May price. Other premium parts of pork, such as tenderloin, loin and steak, increased at a slower pace.
