Prices for lard in Ukraine have undergone significant changes: where is it the most expensive and cheapest

The cost of lard in Ukraine has changed recently, and new data shows noticeable price fluctuations depending on the region. This traditional Ukrainian product can be purchased cheapest in several regions, while in others prices have soared to record levels.

According to the State Statistics Service, the average price of lard in the country is about 169 hryvnias per kilogram. However, in some regions the price is significantly lower. For example, in Chernivtsi region, lard can be bought for 123 hryvnias per kilogram, which is one of the lowest rates in Ukraine.

In addition to Chernivtsi, the regions with the most affordable prices for lard also include Ternopil and Khmelnytsky regions. Here the cost of the product does not exceed 130 hryvnias per kilogram. Thus, residents of the western part of the country have the opportunity to purchase lard at a more favorable price.

The situation is different in the central and eastern regions. For example, in the capital of Ukraine — Kyiv — lard costs an average of 202 hryvnias per kilogram. This is one of the highest prices in the country. The high cost is explained by both increased demand and high trade margins in large cities.

Among the leaders in high prices are also Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, where the average cost of the product exceeds 190 hryvnias per kilogram. Thus, the difference between the cheapest and most expensive regions can reach 70–80 hryvnias per kilogram.

Market analysts note that the cost of lard is influenced by several factors: an increase in production costs, seasonality, as well as logistical difficulties associated with martial law. It is still difficult to predict a further decrease in prices, but in regions with strong local producers, prices remain more stable.
