In April 2025, exports of agro-industrial products from Ukraine decreased by more than 23% compared to March — to 4.1 million tons. This was reported by the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club (UKAB), noting that such a decrease is typical for this period of the year due to the seasonal depletion of basic stocks of agricultural products.
According to analysts, in April, there was a decrease in export volumes in almost all key product categories, with the exception of vegetable oils, which, on the contrary, showed growth. This is due to the fact that in the current season, the processing of sunflower seeds was stretched over time, which led to a more uniform production of oil throughout the spring.
The main share of April exports, as before, was grain crops — 2.4 million tons. In the structure of this volume, 65% fell on corn, 32% on wheat, and 2% on barley. However, compared to March, grain exports decreased by 33%, which is the largest drop among all categories.
Oilseed supplies also decreased slightly - to 421.2 thousand tons. Among them, soybeans (78%), rapeseed (20%) and flax (1%) were exported the most. The overall decrease was 3%. At the same time, vegetable oil exports, on the contrary, increased by 6% and reached 525.8 thousand tons. Sunflower oil dominates the structure of this category (91%), the rest is soybean.
Exports of meal - a by-product after pressing oil - also decreased. In April, Ukraine shipped 423 thousand tons of cake, which is 14% less than a month earlier. Among them, 73% are sunflower cake, 27% are soybean. The category "other agricultural products" covered 357 thousand tons, which is 2% less than in March.
UCAB emphasizes that the April dynamics are typical for the period between the main harvesting campaigns. The only exception was the positive dynamics in the vegetable oils category, which allowed to partially compensate for the overall decrease in export volumes. It is expected that the coming months will also be characterized by moderate indicators, until the start of the new harvesting season.
