In March 2025, Ukraine significantly increased its beef exports, responding to the global increase in demand for red meat on the eve of the Easter holidays and the start of the barbecue season. This was reported by ProAgro Group, citing data from the Milk Producers Association.
Deliveries of fresh and chilled beef increased to 21 tons, which is almost 10 times more than in February this year. Although exports fell almost by half compared to March 2024, this indicates a positive recovery dynamics after the previous decline. Revenue increased to $37 thousand, which is $8 thousand more than in February, but still 92% below the level of the same month last year.
The main destinations for chilled beef supplies in March were Azerbaijan, Moldova, and the Marshall Islands, countries that demonstrate stable demand for this type of product from Ukraine. Despite the limited volume, supplies to these regions indicate diversification of sales markets.
In the first quarter of 2025, chilled beef exports totaled 43 tons, which is 86% less than in the same period in 2024. Export revenue for this period amounted to $247 thousand, which is 87% less than in January-March last year. The decrease is explained by the difficult geopolitical situation, the reduction of cattle population, and limited logistical capabilities.
In contrast, frozen beef exports are showing growth. In March 2025, 1.5 thousand tons of this product were exported from Ukraine - 14% more than in February and 13% more than in March 2024. Export revenue exceeded $5.6 million. The largest importers of Ukrainian frozen beef remain China, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
In the first three months of this year, Ukraine exported 4.24 thousand tons of frozen beef, which is 10% more in physical terms than in the first quarter of 2024. However, the monetary equivalent of exports decreased by 6% - to $15.75 million. This indicates a certain decrease in prices on the world market, despite the increase in supply volumes.
