In March 2025, Ukraine has seen a significant decrease in milk purchase prices. This was the result of several factors, including an increase in exports of Ukrainian dairy products and an increase in milk consumption within the country.

According to the press service of the Association of Milk Producers (AVM), the average purchase price of extra-grade milk as of March 25 was UAH 16.35/kg excluding VAT. This is 45 kopecks less than a month ago. The price of premium milk also decreased by 50 kopecks, reaching UAH 16.15/kg excluding VAT. First-grade milk became cheaper by 35 kopecks and costs UAH 15.65/kg excluding VAT. The minimum price paid by farms is UAH 15.00/kg, which is 20 kopecks less than the previous month.

According to the analysis, the weighted average price for milk of three grades was UAH 16.20/kg excluding VAT, which is 40 kopecks less than in mid-February 2025. These changes reflect the general trend of decreasing prices in the dairy sector.

The main reason for such changes is the steady growth in dairy product exports, which leads to an increase in supply on the domestic market. There is also an increase in demand for milk in Ukraine, which helps maintain a balance between production and consumption, but does not stop the decline in purchase prices.

Experts note that such changes may be temporary, depending on market conditions and further changes in the foreign trade situation. In addition, prices may fluctuate depending on weather conditions, which may affect the forage harvest and the productivity of dairy cattle breeding.

For the coming months, experts predict a possible decrease in prices, but specify that the stability of prices for dairy products may depend on trends in external markets, as well as on the political and economic situation in the country.
