New rules for conducting laboratory research on milk and dairy products are being introduced in Ukraine. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has adopted regulatory changes aimed at improving the quality and safety of dairy products sold in the country's agri-food markets. From now on, clear requirements for sampling have been defined, as well as the frequency of control checks.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the adopted rules establish uniform approaches to laboratory analysis of dairy products. The innovations provide for mandatory quality control of raw milk and products made from it. In particular, the requirements for sampling, their research, as well as the frequency of checks of safety indicators have been defined.
Special attention has been paid to the control of products that reach the end consumer through agri-food markets. From now on, laboratory tests will cover not only large enterprises, but also small producers. This means that even small farms and private suppliers are required to meet the established standards so that their products can be legally sold on the market.
The Laboratory Control Regulations were approved by Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine dated November 25, 2024 No. 4150. The new rules will come into force on April 29, 2025. At the same time, the Order of the State Department of Veterinary Medicine of 2004, which previously regulated this area, will lose its validity.
Such changes are an important step in reforming the dairy industry of Ukraine, as they will contribute to increasing control over product quality and reducing risks to consumer health. The approved requirements will ensure transparency of the research process and guarantee compliance with veterinary and sanitary standards by all market participants.
In the future, these innovations should have a positive impact on trust in the domestic dairy sector and contribute to its development. Enhanced quality control will increase the safety of dairy products on the domestic market and improve the position of Ukrainian producers in international trade.
