No significant increase in food prices is expected in Ukraine in the coming months. According to First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky, the situation on the food market has stabilized after the autumn price increase.

Speaking at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine, Vysotsky stressed that key products will not have significant price fluctuations until the new harvest. In particular, egg prices have already decreased, and vegetables for borscht have not increased in price as much as predicted.

According to him, the main factor that can affect the cost of food is energy supply. However, the government currently does not see any serious threats to market stability. The current harvest provides a stable level of supply, and possible temporary deficits are compensated by imports.

Vysotsky also expressed cautious optimism about the future decrease in prices for some products. According to his forecast, if the new harvest is larger than expected, the cost of some categories of goods may decrease in the fall. This means that in the next 4–5 months, Ukrainian consumers can count on stability or even a decrease in the price of certain products.

Separately, he noted the positive situation in the dairy market. In the near future, no sharp price fluctuations are expected in this segment, which is good news for consumers.

It is worth noting that, according to the State Statistics Service, in 2024, prices for borscht vegetables increased the most, while the cost of pork and lard, on the contrary, decreased. This confirms the general trend towards market balancing, which gives grounds for moderate optimism.
