The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, together with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), announced the launch of a new program to support farmers. Within its framework, farmers will have the opportunity to purchase high-quality processed grain seeds for the upcoming spring and autumn sowing campaigns.
To participate in the program, farmers from the eastern and southern regions of the country can apply through the State Agrarian Register (DAR). Each participant who meets the selection criteria will receive a voucher in the amount of $1000 to purchase the necessary seeds. Applications are accepted until January 26, 2025.
The program is aimed at 550 small and medium-sized farmers who cultivate from 10 to 300 hectares of land in Chernihiv, Donetsk, Kherson, Odesa and Zaporizhia regions. Particular attention will be paid to farms managed by women and those located near the front line, where conditions for farming remain the most difficult.
The project is funded by the governments of Germany and France. Selected participants will receive confirmation through DAR, as well as detailed information on the use of vouchers. However, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy emphasizes that submitting an application does not guarantee receiving assistance - all decisions are made on the basis of criteria defined by the program.
FAO emphasizes that the program is aimed not only at providing farmers with access to quality agricultural resources. Its goal is to restore and support the agricultural sector in the regions most affected by the war. This, in turn, will contribute to strengthening the local economy and the long-term resilience of communities.
This initiative is another step in the restoration of Ukrainian agriculture, which remains an important economic sector of the country. Support from international partners will help farmers overcome the challenges of wartime and ensure sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
