The State Property Fund of Ukraine announced the inclusion of the Unified Property Complex of the State Enterprise "Salt Distillation Drohobytskyi Zavod" in the list of objects to be put up for privatization. This decision concerns one of the oldest industrial enterprises in Ukraine, which has been operating for over 700 years, using ancient medieval technology for the production of salt.

The salt factory in Drohobych is not only historical, but also strategically important for the country, because due to the war it remains the only producer of table salt in Ukraine. The plant continues its work during the war, supporting not only the industrial sphere, but also the tourist attraction of the region. According to the State Property Fund, this enterprise is one of the key objects for the development of tourism in the western part of Ukraine.

The property complex includes nine architectural monuments of local importance, which adds special value to the enterprise. According to Ukrainian legislation, privatization of such objects is possible only on the condition of concluding a protection agreement with the bodies that take care of cultural heritage to ensure the preservation of architectural monuments.

However, the financial situation of the plant is difficult. Due to the obligation to pay 80% of net profit to the state budget in the form of dividends, the company does not have enough funds for its own recovery and modernization. The owners of the plant believe that privatization or transfer of the enterprise to communal ownership can be the key to its preservation and further development.

The management of the saltworks is convinced that the involvement of a private investor will allow not only to restore the facility, but also to direct profits to the modernization of production facilities. This, in turn, will open opportunities for foreign investment and the creation of new jobs in the region. According to representatives of the company, privatization can be an effective step towards the preservation of this unique historical object.

Therefore, the privatization of the oldest saltworks of Ukraine will not only promote business development, but also help preserve an important part of the national heritage for future generations.
