In June, the average retail price of a kilogram of chilled pork amounted to UAH 191.9, which is a decrease of almost 1% or UAH 1.8/kg compared to May. This decrease in prices is observed against the background of the general trend of decreasing the cost of meat products.

According to the Association of Pig Farmers of Ukraine, not all parts of pork have experienced the same price changes. The scapula and femoral part fell in price the most — by 2.3% and 2.8%, respectively. In contrast, premium parts of pork, such as tenderloin and loin, showed only a slight decrease in prices by 0.3% or about UAH 1/kg. However, collars, the part that is most popular during the picnic season, on the contrary, rose in price by 1.6% in June.

The decrease in average pork prices was synchronized with similar dynamics in chicken prices, which decreased by 0.8% compared to May, while beef prices increased by 5%. This indicates general trends in the meat market.

The average purchase price of pig carcasses in June was UAH 53.2/kg including VAT, which is a decrease of 10.1% or UAH 6/kg including VAT compared to May. This decrease in hog prices has had the effect of reducing retail prices, but it is worth noting that prices on the counters have also been affected by additional costs associated with the adaptation of outlets to the power outage.

According to suppliers' feedback, not all retail outlets were able to quickly adapt to new working conditions. However, at the end of the month, most participants in the meat market were able to adapt to the new realities and organize their activities in accordance with the changed conditions.

These factors show the difficulty of adapting the market to new economic conditions and the need for flexible management in conditions of instability.
