Poland has increased its purchases of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus

Poland, which is one of the largest countries in the European Union in terms of agricultural products, has increased its purchases of agricultural products with the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. According to the State Statistics Service of Poland, the volume of imports of agricultural products from the Russian Federation in 2023 increased by 10% compared to the previous year and amounted to about 1.2 billion euros.

The increase in the volume of purchases of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus has caused outrage among Ukrainian farmers, who note that this may lead to a reduction in production in Ukraine and the loss of sales markets. However, representatives of the Polish authorities point out that the increase in imports is due to high demand on the market and an increase in consumer demand in Poland.

At the same time, the increase in the volume of purchases of agricultural products from the Russian Federation and Belarus has a positive economic effect for Poland. According to experts, this will contribute to the reduction of prices for products for consumers in the country, and will also help to ensure the stability of the agricultural sector in connection with the growth of exports.

Despite this, the import of agricultural products from the Russian Federation and Belarus causes certain discussions in Polish society. Some experts and public activists emphasize that this may have a negative impact on the country's domestic agricultural market and lead to a decrease in support for domestic farmers.
