The threat of Slovak carriers: border closure and the issue of the permit system for Ukrainian truckers

Ukrainian transporters face a serious threat, as the Union of Road Transporters of Slovakia (UNAS) has expressed its intention to completely block the Vyshnye Nemetske - Uzhgorod border crossing. The press service of the organization reported that this decision will become a reality if a solution to the situation with the cancellation of the permit system for Ukrainian truck drivers is not found.

Carriers have acknowledged the complexity of the situation, but insist that the current state of affairs is unacceptable. UNAS remains ready for a strike, seeing it as the only possible way out to solve this problem.

In the absence of other alternatives, the carriers decided not only to threaten, but also to publicly express their readiness to completely block the Vyshnye Nemetske - Uzhgorod border crossing in both directions. This is defined in the official message of the organization.

It is important to note that the carriers expressed their gratitude to the Minister of Transport of Slovakia, Jozef Raž, for his decisive influence on the abolition of the permit system for Ukrainian carriers. His efforts in Brussels are aimed at solving the problems of road transport in the country.

The announced actions of UNAS indicate the seriousness and tension of the situation, where the united carriers believe that their practices need immediate intervention and change.

The threat of blocking the border becomes another important problem for diplomacy and negotiations between Ukraine and Slovakia. It remains to be hoped that the parties will manage to find a constructive way to resolve the conflict and avoid negative consequences for the economic cooperation of both countries.
