Farmers in the Kharkiv region will receive 35 tons of free vegetable seeds as part of humanitarian aid. This opportunity has opened up for all farmers in the region thanks to the cooperation of the Department of Agricultural Development of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, the SAFE Association and the regional organization of employers in the field of agricultural development.

So far, 12 farms in the region that grow vegetables in the open field, as well as private farmers, have requested free seeds. Ivan Glyan, Chairman of the Board of the Kharkiv Regional Organization of Employers in the Field of Agricultural Development, noted that this initiative will provide high-quality and promising vegetable seeds for farmers.

In addition, a memorandum of partnership and cooperation was signed between the Kharkiv Regional Organization of Employers in the Field of Agricultural Development and the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences. The institute will provide farmers in the region with methodological and practical support for the care and cultivation of vegetable crops.

According to Oleksandr Kuts, director of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the seeds provided are of high quality and not contaminated with pesticides, and can be stored for several years without losing their properties. This initiative will help improve vegetable growing and provide farmers with modern seeds.

It is estimated that the vegetable seeds will be enough to sow about 8,000 hectares.
