From May 20, 2025, Ukrainian farmers will be able to apply for a special budget subsidy for keeping cattle. Registration will take place through the State Agrarian Register and provides financial assistance to owners of cows of all productivity levels.
As reported by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Koval, this year the payment will be 7,000 hryvnias for each cow. Those farms that own from 3 to 100 heads of cattle will be able to apply for support.
The minister emphasized that this initiative is part of the government's efforts aimed at preserving and developing livestock farming under martial law. "This is an important step in supporting farmers who, despite all the difficulties, continue to work, keep livestock and provide the country with food," Koval noted.
At the same time, an important condition for participation in this year's program is the absence of subsidies received in 2024. Those farmers who have already used state support last year will not be able to apply in 2025 - the corresponding sections in the agricultural register will be inactive for them.
In April of this year, the first payments were already made within the framework of a special budget subsidy. In total, 7,766 farmers received assistance for a total amount of 386.5 million hryvnias. Of this amount, 220.78 million hryvnias were allocated to support cattle breeding, and another 165.77 million hryvnias were allocated to subsidies for goat and sheep owners.
These payments are financed from the state budget within the framework of the ARISE Emergency Project - an initiative to provide inclusive support for the restoration of Ukrainian agriculture. The program has become an important tool for stabilizing the agricultural sector and maintaining food security in times of war.
