A significant decrease in prices for early white cabbage has been recorded on Ukrainian vegetable markets. Experts attribute this dynamics primarily to a sharp increase in the supply of new crop products, as well as sluggish consumer demand. The price correction for cabbage became noticeable in mid-May.

As of today, Ukrainian producers are selling early cabbage of the 2025 harvest within the range of UAH 30–40 per kilogram. This is approximately 37% cheaper than at the end of the previous week.

Experts note that farmers are forced to reduce the cost of products due to excess supply on the market: most agricultural producers have already reached mass shipment volumes. At the same time, demand is not keeping up with the pace of vegetable arrivals, which forces sellers to promptly respond to the situation by reducing prices.

Despite the current drop in value, the price of cabbage still significantly exceeds last year's figures. According to EastFruit, the cost of new-crop white cabbage is now almost three times higher than in the same period in 2024. The main reason is the adverse weather conditions this spring, in particular, prolonged rains and cold, which postponed the start of the season and complicated cultivation.

In addition to the situation with cabbage, the market is also reacting to changes in the greenhouse vegetable segment. In particular, prices for cucumbers have gone up over the past week. According to experts, this is due to a limited supply of products due to unstable weather, while demand for cucumbers remains consistently high. Currently, the price of this vegetable fluctuates within 50–75 UAH per kilogram.

Thus, the Ukrainian vegetable market is demonstrating a typical May transition period: some crops become cheaper due to a surplus, while others become more expensive due to a shortage. Consumers should expect further fluctuations, depending on weather conditions and the logistical situation.
