The sugar-making season has begun in the Ternopil region, and one of the local enterprises is already showing significant achievements. The first to start processing sugar beets was the enterprise "Radehivsky Sugar", which has already processed 19 thousand tons of beets and produced 1.9 thousand tons of new crop sugar. Volodymyr Stakhiv, director of the department of agro-industrial development of the Ternopil region, reported this, Ukrinform reports.
"The beginning of the sugar beet processing season took place quite actively. The enterprise "Radekhiv Sugar" has demonstrated a high rate of work, having already processed thousands of tons of raw materials and released the first batch of sugar for the 2024 harvest," said Stakhiv, emphasizing the importance of the start of the season for the agricultural sector of the region.
The sugar beets supplied to the enterprises are collected from the fields of agricultural enterprises, which are already actively digging. This year's yield is 578 quintals per hectare, which is quite high for the region. Currently, about 40,000 tons of sugar beets have been dug up and are already being processed.
The high yield of beets has become a positive signal for the local economy, because the stable operation of sugar factories guarantees the supply of sugar for both the domestic market and export supplies. This indicator can also affect the overall balance of sugar production in Ukraine.
The sugar-making season in Ternopil Oblast traditionally starts in autumn, when the beet harvest reaches its maturity. Agribusinesses are actively working to ensure the maximum amount of harvesting and processing of raw materials in a short period of time, without losing the quality of products.
It is expected that in the coming weeks, other sugar factories of the region will also join the beet processing process. Thus, Ternopil once again confirms its important place on the map of Ukrainian sugar production.
