  • Ukraine reduces sales of Christmas trees: plan to sell only 200 thousand trees
    Опубликовано: 2024-12-31 13:03:50

Ukrainian forestry this year grew more than a million Christmas trees and pines on special plantations. However, according to Opendatabot, sales volumes have significantly decreased compared to the pre-war period.

According to the State Agency of Forest Resources, by the end of 2024, it is planned to sell approximately 200 thousand legally grown Christmas trees. As of early December, only 44.5 thousand Christmas trees had been sold, which indicates a significant decline in demand.

For comparison, in 2021, forestry enterprises grew 2.05 million coniferous trees, while this year this figure has almost halved to 1.07 million. This situation reflects changes in the country's economic situation and the consumer capabilities of the population.

The main types of trees grown are pines (52%) and firs (44%), the rest are other coniferous species. The largest production volumes this year were recorded in Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr regions, which provided 20% and 16% of the total number of trees, respectively.

Prices for Christmas trees vary depending on the region. The most expensive trees are sold in Transcarpathia, where their average price is 918 hryvnias. The cheapest Christmas trees can be found in Kharkiv region - on average for 92 hryvnias. This gap in prices is explained by both regional characteristics and logistical costs.

Despite the reduction in volumes, Ukrainian forestry enterprises continue to work to provide the population with environmentally friendly New Year trees grown on special plantations in order to minimize damage to nature and maintain traditions.
