Since the beginning of the new marketing year 2024/25 (July-June), Ukraine has successfully exported more than a million tons of barley, which was a significant achievement for the agricultural sector. As of August 23, 2024, the volume of exports of grain and leguminous crops from Ukraine amounted to 6,385 thousand tons, ProAgro Group reports with reference to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
According to the data of the State Customs Service, this indicator is 2.55 million tons higher than the export volume on the same date last season. It is important to note that wheat, barley and corn account for a significant share of exports.
Thus, for the period up to mid-August of this year, 3,089,000 tons of wheat were shipped from Ukraine, which is 93.4% more compared to the same period last season. Barley exports amounted to 1,089,000 tons, which is more than 2.4 times higher than last year. Corn supplies reached 2,185,000 tons, which is 0.4 million tons more than last year.
However, not all categories of grain crops are showing growth. For example, the volume of rye exports amounted to only 0.3 thousand tons, which is half as much as compared to last year. As for grain flour, 9.2 thousand tons were shipped abroad during this period, of which 8.4 thousand tons were wheat flour. This is less by 9.5 thousand tons compared to the same period last year.
The export of Ukrainian grain crops shows stable growth, confirming Ukraine's ability to maintain high volumes of supplies on international markets. This trend is an important signal for the agricultural sector of the country and indicates the stability and competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural production on the world stage.
