In the first half of 2024, Ukraine recorded a significant increase in the export of apples and pears, which increased by 23% compared to the same period last year. The total export volume of these fruits was 28,000 tons, which indicates positive changes in the agricultural sector.
According to EastFruit analysts, this increase is part of the overall increase in export deliveries of agri-food products from Ukraine. During January-June 2024, the export of agro-food products reached $12.4 billion, which is 5% more compared to the first half of 2023.
In addition to apples and pears, significant growth was also recorded in other segments of fruit and berry products. Exports of fruit and berry crops increased by 50%, reaching $143 million. In particular, the export volumes of walnuts increased by 44%, reaching 19,000 tons, and frozen fruits - by 35%, reaching 38,000 tons.
Growth is also observed in other categories. Sales of jams, jellies and marmalades brought in $9 million, which is 65% more than last year. Canned fruits and berries delivered $6 million in revenue, up 20%, and juice sales totaled $97 million, up 61%.
The European Union remains the key sales market for Ukrainian fruit and berry products. However, Ukraine is also expanding its presence in the US honey market, which indicates success in geographical expansion of export supplies.
Analysts note that despite external restrictions and threats related to the war, the export of goods with added value shows a consistently high level. This is achieved thanks to the high quality of Ukrainian products and a positive image in the eyes of foreign partners.
