In Chernihiv region, in the village of Boromyki, a presentation of new domestic potato varieties from the Institute of Potato Breeding of the National Academy of Sciences was held. The event took place at the "Desna" gas station, where breeders presented Soborn and Myroslava potato varieties. This was reported on the Facebook page of the "Desna" gas station.

The Soborna potato variety is characterized by an average ripening period. The vegetation period of this variety lasts about 110 days. The plants are of medium height and well-leafed bushes that bloom with red-purple flowers. Potato tubers are round and elongated in shape with a pink skin and surface eyes. The average weight of a marketable tuber is about 80 grams, and the flesh is light yellow in color. The content of starch in potatoes is in the range of 16.9-17.8%, and dry matter - 25%. Taste qualities are estimated at 8.9-9.1 points out of 10 possible, and the variety belongs to the culinary type B, which means weak variegation. Soborna is used for the production of chips, and the yield under proper agricultural technology is 43-45 tons per hectare. The marketability of this variety is 92%.

Another variety of potato, Myroslava, is medium-ripening and has a high resistance to diseases. It tolerates drought well and is resistant to cancer and Alternaria. One of the features of this variety is the ability to store for a long time without losing its appearance. Myroslava is also noted for its high yield.

Potato tubers of the Myroslava variety have an oval shape, pink skin and light yellow flesh. The weight of one potato varies from 80 to 140 grams. This variety is excellent for frying, cooking and preparing salads. Among the main characteristics of the Myroslava variety are high resistance to diseases, large tubers that can weigh up to 130 grams, high yield of up to 600 quintals per hectare, starch content at the level of 17.2%, and universal use in cooking.

The presentation of the new Soborn and Myroslav potato varieties testifies to the active work of Ukrainian breeders to improve the quality and yield of domestic varieties. These varieties not only provide high yields, but also have excellent taste qualities, which makes them popular among consumers.

The "Desna" sewage plant in Chernihiv Oblast remains an important site for the testing and introduction of new potato varieties, which contributes to the development of the agricultural sector in Ukraine. Continuation of work on the improvement of varieties and their popularization will help increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian potatoes on the international market.
