According to analyst Myroslav Marchyniak, only 10% of the volume of Ukrainian grain is used in Polish ports, although these ports provide 60% of all capacities. This indicates the lack of use of Polish port opportunities for Ukrainian grain.

According to data published on the Farmer.pl website, the issue of surplus grain on the domestic market, which needs to be exported, is being discussed in the Polish mass media. However, Marcyniak noted that most of this surplus is Polish grain.

According to information from Ukrainian state services, from January to February 2024, 515,000 tons of grain and oil crops passed through Polish border crossings. Only 24.3 thousand tons were addressed to Polish recipients.

Germany (195.4 thousand tons), the Netherlands (58.3 thousand tons), and Lithuania and Latvia (21.8 thousand tons each) were the largest recipients of Ukrainian agricultural products.

Marcyniak cites data indicating a decline in grain transshipment in Polish ports from July to December 2023, as well as from January to February 2024. This is probably due to the successful implementation of previously concluded contracts at favorable prices.

Recently, Polish grain has become less competitive on world markets, and the limited supply from farmers does not encourage exporters to look for new sales markets. This led to a decline in the speed of transshipment of transit grain.

As a result, transit of Ukrainian grain through Poland eventually loses its attractiveness for Ukrainian producers and exporters.
