In February of this year, Ukrainian dairy exporters reported a significant increase in shipments compared to the previous month, effectively utilizing the rising prices on international markets. Condensed milk and cream were particularly popular among exporters.
According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in February of this year the country exported 8.5 thousand tons of dairy products worth USD 16.6 million. This reflects a 22% increase in export volumes and a 26% increase in revenues compared to January 2024. In general, since the beginning of the year, export volumes have increased by 3%, reaching 15.13 thousand tons, although revenues decreased by 14%.
Condensed milk and cream remain the most popular export products, accounting for 33% of total exports. Cheese, ice cream and butter also play a significant role in the structure of dairy exports.
Although the volume of exports of condensed milk and cream decreased by 14% in February, revenues increased by 18%. At the same time, exports of condensed milk grew by 18%, providing a 20% increase in revenues, thanks to active deliveries to Moldova, Israel and Poland.
Significant growth was also recorded in whey supplies, which increased by 56% compared to January. Exports of butter also showed positive dynamics, increasing by 17% in terms of physical volumes and 20% in terms of revenues compared to the previous month.
In terms of cheese, Ukraine also showed a significant increase in exports, with a 33% increase in revenues. In addition, the expansion of export geography allows domestic dairy producers to supply new markets.
The growth of dairy exports in Ukraine demonstrates the country's potential in international trade. However, factors that may affect export dynamics, such as competition on international markets and changes in tariff policy, should be taken into account.
