Ukrainian consumers are seeing a rise in prices for greenhouse tomatoes, which has averaged 14% over the past week. According to analysts of the EastFruit project, wholesale companies are actively raising selling prices for imported tomatoes, reaching levels of 70 to 90 hryvnias per kilogram ($1.84-2.36/kg).

It is noted that the rise in prices is observed against the background of a gradual decline in demand for imported tomatoes in Ukraine, as their cost becomes unaffordable for some of the population. However, despite this, importers continue to raise prices for this product, which, in turn, maintains the level of price increase.

Sellers explain the rise in prices for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine by high tariffs for this product in Turkey, which is the main supplier of tomatoes in winter. Another reason for the price increase is the limited supply of tomatoes in greenhouses. It is known that Ukrainian greenhouse plants enter the market with new volumes of products only in mid-March.

It is also worth noting that according to the EastFruit project, prices for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine remain the highest among all countries in the region. Compared to the previous period, when prices for imported tomatoes decreased, there has been a significant change in the market situation.
