As of January 2, 2023, Ukraine has already exported 18.3 million tons of grains and pulses since the beginning of the new marketing year 2023/24. This is an impressive figure that reflects an active start in expanding agricultural exports. The information is based on the data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
It is worth noting that the export volume is currently lagging behind the figures of the previous marketing year 2022/23, when 22.7 million tons were exported during the same period. It should be noted that volumes traditionally decrease in winter, and this development may indicate seasonal fluctuations.
The dynamics of certain crops is of particular interest. In particular, wheat exports amounted to 7.5 mln tonnes so far (8.4 mln tonnes in 2022/23 MY). Barley was exported in the amount of 1 million tons, which is a significant achievement given the seasonality and market conditions. Rye exports amounted to 1 thousand tons (12.5 thousand tons), and corn exports amounted to 9.5 million tons (12.6 million tons). These figures demonstrate the diversity of exported crops and their competitiveness on the global market.
The coming months may bring new trends and changes in the export structure, but for now, Ukraine continues to actively export its agricultural products to global markets.
