  • The volume of agricultural exports by road is growing
    Опубликовано: 2023-11-03 16:02:49

Ukrainian agricultural producers continue to actively expand the export of agricultural products by road. According to SPIKE BROKERS, as of October 30 this year, the volume of exports of agricultural products by road in October increased to 526 thousand tons, compared to 514 thousand tons in the previous month.

Thanks to the gradual opening of European markets for direct deliveries of agricultural products by road, the development of sustainable relationships and work with the expectations of end customers, domestic agricultural exporters are making progress in increasing direct exports.

The road freight market is stabilizing in all directions, and the supply of vehicles is growing gradually. The most popular destinations for transportation are Turkey, Germany and Poland, reflecting the active trade turnover between Ukraine and these countries and the possibility of picking up return cargo in Ukraine.

In addition, exporters continue to send goods by rail to the west of Europe. The average daily volume of goods transferred across Ukraine's western borders in October was 473 railcars per day. The largest volume of cargo traffic occurs at the borders with Romania and Poland, where the average daily volumes were 125.41 wagons per day and 116.45 wagons per day, respectively.

Ukraine is intensifying its transport integration with Europe and has increased the share of agricultural products shipped from Ukraine by railcars on the European 1435 mm gauge, which already accounts for 50% of the total or about 400 thousand tons per month.

Increased demand for cargo shipment to the Black Sea ports helped stabilize transportation tariffs and, in some cases, increase them.

In total, about 3 million tons of agricultural products were exported by sea and river in October. Some restrictions on the daily number of vessels entering and exiting the Danube were imposed by the Ukrainian Navy to ensure the safety of the convoy. The resumption of export shipments by sea has also led to a decrease in the flow of goods through the rivers, which is affecting the reduction of tariffs for river transportation.
