According to the National Research Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics" and academician Yuriy Lupenko, 2022 witnessed a significant reduction in the number of operating agricultural enterprises in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, decreasing from 51,800 to 35,600, which is almost a third of the total (-31.4%). This is the largest decline since 2012.

Looking at individual industries, we can note a significant decline in the number of enterprises engaged in the cultivation of annual and biennial crops, from 40,600 to 28,000 (-31.2%), and in the cultivation of perennial crops from 1,600 to 1,100 (-31.1%), livestock farming, from 3,700 to 2,600 (-28.9%), mixed agriculture, from 988 to 616 (-37.7%), and agricultural support activities, from 2,300 to 1,500 (-32.8%).

Among the sub-sectors that experienced the most significant reduction in the number of enterprises are rice (-73.3%), spinning crops (-52.4%), vegetables and melons, roots and tubers (-38.3%), and grapes (-37.4%).

On the other hand, the number of enterprises engaged in horse breeding, tobacco cultivation, livestock auxiliary activities, dairy cattle breeding, seed processing for reproduction, and the cultivation of spicy, aromatic, and medicinal crops also decreased, but to a lesser extent.
