Exports of Ukrainian dairy products showed a slight decline in June. During the first month of summer, 10.2 thousand tons were exported for $ 23.3 million, which is 3% less than in the same period last year.
This was reported by the press service of the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB).
According to UCAB, most of the dairy products (65%) were not sold to the EU markets. Currently, the largest importers of Ukrainian dairy products are three countries: Moldova (28.6%), Poland (18.5%), and Bangladesh (6.2%).
"Comparing June 2022 and June 2023, we see a slight increase in exports of ice cream, butter (coagulated milk, kefir) and milk powder. The volumes increased by 34%, 16% and 16%, respectively," said UCAB analyst Maksym Hopka.
According to him, Moldova (95%) remains the main buyer of ice cream, while Moldova, Poland, Germany, Israel are the main buyers of butter and coagulated milk, and Poland, Bangladesh, Israel, and Bulgaria are the main buyers of milk powder.
All other groups of dairy products showed a decline in exports both in physical volume and value trade (data for June 2023/2022):
Milk and cream, condensed - 1.8 thousand tons, which is 33% less in physical volume and 29% less in value;
Whey - 1.3 thousand tons, 14% in volume and 55% in value;
Butter - 727 tons, 20% physically and 34% by value;
Cheese - 574 tons, unchanged physically, but by 34% in value.
According to UCAB monitoring data, purchase prices for raw milk remained stable in June: the weighted average price of the three types amounted to UAH 11.35/kg.
In general, in January-May 2023, Ukraine produced 2896.4 thousand tons of milk, which is 4.6% less than in the previous year. In May, the gross milk yield amounted to 751.4 thousand tons.
The highest milk production volumes over five months were recorded in the following regions: Poltava (181 thousand tons), Cherkasy (145.4 thousand tons), Chernihiv (106.5 thousand tons).
It is worth noting that Ukrainian producers of milk and dairy products can now export them to Canada. The opening of the Canadian market for Ukrainian dairy products will allow entrepreneurs to earn additional funds and strengthen Ukraine's economy.
