  • Ukraine is actively working to create an alternative to the «grain corridor»

Ukraine is actively working to create an alternative to the "grain corridor", including the development of river ports. This was announced by Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council.

The state and farmers are working together to attract alternative ways of grain transportation. This involves the use of solidarity corridors, not limited to land transport, such as railways and roads. Currently, special attention is being paid to the development of small river ports, in particular on the Danube. In practice, the potential of river ports is significant. This is illustrated by the numbers: in May, they exported approximately 3 million tons of grain, which is even higher than the volume exported by the Black Sea during that month.

Denys Marchuk believes that the potential for grain transportation through river ports is significant. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to improve the infrastructure for receiving cargo directly at river ports in Ukraine. Negotiations are also underway with Romanian partners to increase the depth of the Danube-Bistra riverbed. This will increase the capacity of deep-water vessels that can transport more grain. Thus, the volume of exported grain will increase and logistics will become more cost-effective.

The development of river ports is of great importance for the Ukrainian economy. Not only will it help diversify grain transportation routes, but it will also help ensure the stability of the agricultural sector and increase exports. In addition, this step will reduce dependence on traditional transportation routes and contribute to the development of the regions through which the rivers flow.

Improving the infrastructure of river ports and increasing their capacity are important tasks for the government and the agricultural sector. This will create new opportunities for farmers, boost grain exports, and ensure the sustainable development of the Ukrainian economy.

Ukrainian river ports can become an alternative to the grain corridor, allowing Ukrainian farmers to maximize their potential and contribute to the sustainable development of the country's agricultural sector.
