Ukrainians are waiting for significant changes in the food market in 2025. According to experts, prices for basic food products, in particular buckwheat, may increase by 20-25%. This forecast was voiced by Zynoviy Svereda, a doctor of social economics, who noted that the price increase will affect all categories of goods.
According to Svereda, the price increase will be the result of a number of economic factors, including high inflation, hostilities, as well as a shortage of labor, especially among men, which causes additional costs in agriculture and other sectors of the economy. The expert recommends that Ukrainians start planning purchases for the future now to avoid unnecessary expenses.
"Inflation this month is 9.7%, and in general, products, including buckwheat, are becoming more expensive by 20-25%. Therefore, it is best to make purchases now not by the kilogram, but by 10 kilograms. As a rule, products always become more expensive in the winter and early spring, but in addition, we have a high level of inflation and instability due to the war. This can lead to an additional 10-15% increase in prices," explained Svereda.
Buckwheat prices are one of the most sensitive to changes in the economic situation in the country, since this product is the main one in the diet of Ukrainians. However, the price increase will affect not only buckwheat, but also other food products, such as flour, butter and vegetables, which adds an additional burden on family budgets.
When asked about the possibility of reducing prices for some products, Svereda replied that this will not happen in the near future. Ukraine faces large financial expenditures on social and defense, which significantly affects the cost of goods on the domestic market. Given the situation, prices for most products, unfortunately, will continue to grow.
Thus, Ukrainians should be prepared for further increases in food prices next year. Planning purchases, as well as saving resources in the form of large batches of goods, can be an important step to alleviate financial pressure in conditions of economic instability.
Given the current situation and the projected price increase, the government and business should focus on strategies to support the domestic market in order to minimize the impact of inflationary processes on consumers and ensure the availability of basic food products.
