Salaries of agronomists in Ukraine in 2024 increased significantly compared to the previous year. Such conclusions were made by the company Agrohub in its research on the remuneration of employees of the agronomic service. Eight large and medium-sized agricultural holdings with more than 1.5 million hectares of agricultural land at their disposal took part in the study.
Analyzing the incomes of agronomic employees, the company found that the average monthly salary in various positions, excluding bonuses, has increased significantly. In 2024, the chief agronomist will receive an average of 108,000 hryvnias per month, which is 20% more than in 2023, when this amount was about 90,000 hryvnias. A leading agronomist receives 67,000 hryvnias per month, compared to last year's 50,000 hryvnias, and the income of a line agronomist has increased from 30 to 32,300 hryvnias per month.
The study also noted that despite the increase in salaries, the bonus system has not changed significantly. As before, bonuses for agronomists are accrued after the completion of the product sales cycle. The amount of the bonus is calculated on the basis of a certain number of monthly salaries, and it is limited by thresholds: the maximum ratio does not exceed 1.5, even if the key performance indicators (KPI) are exceeded by more than 150%.
It is interesting that the increase in the salary level in the agricultural sector is taking place against the background of increased competition for qualified personnel, especially in large agricultural holdings. This is one of the factors that encourage agricultural companies to review salary packages, because increasing wages helps retain professionals in the industry.
According to forecasts of Agrohub experts, the trend of increasing salaries in agriculture may persist, taking into account the demand for experienced specialists. Companies are increasingly offering various forms of incentives, including partial coverage of housing costs for employees who work in remote areas.
Thus, Ukrainian farmers have the opportunity to improve their incomes by working in the industry, which demonstrates the growth of salary indicators and a stable demand for professionals in the agronomic direction.
