In Ukraine, there is an increase in the prices of greenhouse cucumbers, which has been going on for the third week in a row. At the end of last week, the price of cucumbers reached 80-100 hryvnias per kilogram, which is 29% higher than last year. This is reported by analysts of the East Fruit company.
Sellers have the opportunity to raise selling prices for available batches of cucumbers. At the end of the week, the sale of products takes place in the range of 80-100 hryvnias per kilogram (approximately 1.94-2.42 dollars per kilogram), which is 24% more expensive compared to the previous week. The increase in prices is noted in all regions, which is caused by the limited offer on the market.
Market operators note that the increase in prices for greenhouse cucumbers is due to the shortage of this product in Ukraine. Local factories cannot meet the demand, and the supply of cucumbers remains limited. At the same time, buyers' interest in greenhouse vegetables remains stable, but insignificant.
In the conditions of reduced local supply, importers are already preparing to purchase cucumbers in Turkey. This is especially relevant, since imported cucumbers begin to arrive on the Ukrainian market in the second half of October, when the supply of domestic vegetables is reduced. The largest volumes of imports, as a rule, are recorded in the first two months of winter, when domestic production is practically absent.
Today, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are already 29% more expensive compared to the same date last year. Experts believe that mills can continue to raise prices for their products if current sales rates are maintained.
Forecasts of experts indicate a possible stabilization of prices with the start of deliveries of large batches of cucumbers from foreign markets. Thus, Ukrainian consumers should expect changes in the price policy, depending on fluctuations in supply and demand in the market.
