During the first nine months of 2024, Ukraine significantly increased the volume of exports of agricultural products, which increased by more than 25% compared to the same period last year. In numbers, this amounts to 9.9 million tons of production, and its value rose by $1.4 billion. These data were announced by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

According to the information of the State Customs Service, in the three quarters of 2024, Ukraine exported 48.9 million tons of agricultural products for a total amount of 10.5 billion dollars. The main reason for this positive trend was the restoration of sea communication, thanks to which 89% of the total volume of agricultural exports was transported by sea.

On land, it is more convenient for exporters to use rail transport, although road transport accounts for only 2% of the total volume of transport. This shows that the railway remains the main mode of transport for domestic transportation in Ukraine.

The key group of exported agricultural products remains grain crops, which make up the majority of exports. During the nine months, 42.3 million tons of grain worth 7.1 billion dollars were exported. This confirms the position of Ukraine as one of the leading suppliers of grain on the international market.

Also, the seeds and fruits of oil plants are an important component of the export of agricultural products. During this period, Ukraine exported 5 million tons of these goods for a total amount of 2.2 billion dollars. These data indicate the growing interest of international markets in Ukrainian oil products.

Regarding the import of agricultural products, the situation has its own peculiarities. Approximately 80% of all imported agricultural products entered Ukraine by road, about 18% by sea, and almost 2% by rail. This is due to the main suppliers being mainly located in Europe, while Ukrainian exports are supplied to markets all over the world.

In total, 978.8 thousand tons of agricultural products worth 1.7 billion dollars were imported into Ukraine. Almost half of all imports are edible fruits and nuts — 468,000 tons worth 563.8 million dollars. Also significant in terms of quantity of imported products are vegetables - 194.2 thousand tons (246.6 million dollars), and in terms of value - oilseeds for 346.5 million dollars (50.2 thousand tons).
