  • Ukrainian wheat is gaining competitive momentum: price growth forecast up to $230/ton
    Опубликовано: 2024-10-17 13:05:10

On the Ukrainian wheat market, there is a noticeable increase in prices due to a decrease in yield, a limited supply of grain and high demand from importers. According to forecasts, the price increase will continue, creating favorable conditions for Ukrainian farmers.

According to the press service of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council with reference to the analytical department of the PUSK agricultural cooperative, wheat prices in Ukraine have the potential for further growth until the end of October. One of the key reasons is the decrease in the harvest in the European Union, which makes Ukrainian grain more attractive to exporters, particularly from Asian markets.

Analysts note that today the average price of wheat in Ukrainian ports is approaching $210/t and has the potential to increase to $220/t. However, this indicator may increase, taking into account the active demand for Ukrainian products and high export rates.

According to experts, Ukraine has already exported about 900,000 tons of wheat, which is evidence of stable demand on foreign markets. Thanks to the quick sale of products without significant accumulations in ports, prices remain stable and support the competitiveness of Ukrainian grain.

News from the Russian market has an additional impact on pricing. Russian exporters have set the minimum price for their wheat at $250/t, which opens up opportunities for Ukraine to strengthen its position on world markets. This is especially important for Asian importers who are looking for alternatives in the face of a shortage of Russian grain.

No less significant is the increase in prices on the domestic market. The price of wheat of the 2nd class already exceeds UAH 9,700/t, which makes the sale of products on the domestic market more profitable for farmers. According to forecasts, the limited supply of grain will contribute to further price increases, and by December-January the price of wheat in ports may reach $230/t.
