In Ukraine, there is a significant increase in raspberry prices, which was the result of a significant reduction in the supply of this berry on the market. Today, most of the available raspberries belong to remontant varieties, which require special conditions for harvesting.
According to the analysts of the EastFruit project, producers plan to continue collecting raspberries for several more weeks, depending on weather conditions, which may affect the further development of the price situation on the market.
As of the beginning of October, raspberry prices on wholesale markets range from 250 to 350 hryvnias per kilogram (approximately $0.36-0.53/kg), which is 67% more than last week. In previous weeks, average prices did not exceed UAH 180 per kilogram.
This level of prices has become the highest in the last 7 years, which indicates significant changes in the berry market. The main factors that influenced the increase in prices are the decrease in the supply of berries and fruits from local producers, as well as positive price dynamics in other segments, such as apples.
Raspberry prices are also showing impressive year-over-year growth of 310%. If in October 2023 the average price was only 65 hryvnias per kilogram, then in 2022 the prices fluctuated at the level of 140 hryvnias per kilogram.
Rising raspberry prices have consequences for consumers and producers. Against the background of such dynamics, the market may face new challenges that will affect the availability of this popular berry for the consumer market. Given the weather conditions and yield, experts predict that the situation on the raspberry market will require careful monitoring in the coming weeks.
