In Ukraine, there is a significant decrease in purchase prices for raspberries, which became noticeable this week in all major production regions. According to EastFruit analysts, the decrease in prices is caused by an increase in the supply of remontant varieties of raspberries, which this year began to be harvested earlier than usual.

At the beginning of the week, resellers offered prices for raspberries in the range of 50-60 hryvnias per kilogram for small producers. However, already this week the maximum price has dropped to approximately 40 hryvnias per kilogram. This caused prices to drop by almost a third in just a few days. Analysts note that the trend of falling prices in the market persists.

Raspberry producers express dissatisfaction with this situation. Several of them are considering boycotting resellers and selling products directly to businesses. This may be an attempt to reduce the negative impact of low purchase prices.

Given the global situation with the frozen raspberry market, EastFruit analysts assume that the prices of raspberries for freezing in Ukraine can stabilize quite quickly. However, a slight decrease in prices is still possible.

Economist of the investment department of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Andriy Yarmak explained that raspberry freezing remains a profitable business for processors in Ukraine. He noted that the margin between the prices of finished products and raw materials has reached record levels in recent years. At the same time, production volumes have increased, which makes it possible to obtain the same profit with a smaller margin, so processors will try to buy as many raspberries as possible. The unexpected large arrival of autumn raspberries earlier than expected was a surprise for processors.

Andriy Yarmak also expressed doubts about the further rise in raspberry prices in the next season. Although raspberry prices have not yet reached the record levels of 2021, they have already overtaken other sources of raw materials for the food industry. This may lead to a decrease in demand from January 2025. Ukrainian enterprises should consider these trends when planning their sales for the future.
