In July 2024, a noticeable decrease in the cost of borscht set in Ukraine is observed. In general, the prices of this product set have decreased by 10% compared to the end of June, which, in particular, is due to the seasonality of most of the products included in it. This is reported by "ProAgro Group" with reference to the data of Channel 24.

According to Inna Salo, chief researcher of the Institute of Agrarian Economics, as of the end of July, the cost of borscht set was about 120 hryvnias for 3 liters of food. This is a marked decrease compared to the previous month, when prices were significantly higher.

In particular, the prices of individual vegetables of the borscht set have decreased significantly. For example, the price of potatoes fell to 20.95 hryvnias per kilogram, which is a decrease of 25%. Carrots now cost 28.45 hryvnias per kilogram, which is 34% less than before. Beet became cheaper by 54%, and its price is now 13.66 hryvnias per kilogram. Onions also fell in price to 11.96 hryvnias per kilogram, which is a decrease of 30%.

However, not all components of the borscht set became cheaper. The price of white cabbage increased 2.2 times, reaching 24.30 hryvnias per kilogram. This increase is partially offset by an overall decrease in the cost of other kit products.

It is important to note that seasonal fluctuations in product prices are common. In the summer, a decrease in vegetable prices is often observed due to an increase in their supply on the market. It is expected that in the autumn and winter period, prices may rise again due to a reduced harvest and seasonal factors.
