  • Increase in purchase prices for milk in Ukraine: impact of heat and decrease in supply
    Опубликовано: 2024-07-30 13:09:56

In the second half of July, a significant increase in purchase prices for milk was observed in Ukraine. The reason for this was a combination of intense heat and a reduction in the supply of raw milk, which led to a shortage on the market.

The analyst of the Milk Association, Georgy Kukhaleishvili, noted that as of July 20, the average purchase price of producers' extra grade milk amounted to UAH 14.12/kg without VAT. This is 43 kopecks more than it was a month ago. The price range for this type of milk ranges from UAH 13.60 to UAH 14.60/kg, and both the upper and lower limits have increased by 40 kopecks over the past month.

Not only milk of extra grade showed an increase in prices. Premium milk also reached an average price of UAH 14.12/kg excluding VAT, with a similar price range as extra milk. This indicates a general tendency to increase prices in all market segments.

Milk of the first grade also did not stay away from this trend. The average price of this product increased to UAH 13.20/kg without VAT, which is 25 kopecks more than in the second half of June. The minimum price for first grade milk was UAH 12.65/kg, while the maximum was UAH 14.05/kg. Over the past month, the upper limit of the price range increased by 85 kopecks, while the lower limit remained unchanged.

In general, the increase in milk prices in Ukraine indicates serious problems with the supply of raw milk. Intense heat and reduced production have become key factors affecting the market. This price increase could have a significant impact on the dairy industry and consumers, who would be forced to pay more for dairy products.

According to analysts' forecasts, if weather conditions do not improve and production volumes do not increase, milk prices may continue to rise in the future. This forces manufacturers and suppliers to look for new ways to optimize production and logistics to reduce costs and stabilize the market.

Thus, the situation with milk prices in Ukraine is an indicator of broader problems in the agricultural sector that require immediate attention and solutions. Rising milk prices underscore the importance of stability and efficiency in food production, especially in the face of climate change and economic challenges.
