On the Ukrainian agricultural market, there is a significant drop in prices for early white cabbage of the new crop. The main reason for this is a seasonal increase in the supply of vegetables with relatively little demand, experts from the EastFruit project report.

Today, prices for early cabbage in 2024 fluctuate between UAH 6-10 per kilogram (or USD 0.15-0.25 per kilogram), which is on average 20% lower than at the end of the previous week.

Farms in Ukraine, responding to the increased supply of cabbage on the market, are forced to actively reduce prices. Most producers have already started mass deliveries of early batches of this vegetable to the market.

Wholesale companies and retail chains, in turn, purchase cabbage in small batches due to its short storage and sale periods.

Currently, the average prices for early cabbage in Ukraine are already 82% lower than in the same period last year. Manufacturers do not rule out that this tendency to lower prices may continue in the future due to the significant volume of supply on the market.

In the context of the agrarian economy of Ukraine, such price fluctuations are a normal phenomenon that often occurs at the beginning of the vegetable growing season. According to experts, an important evolution in the market will be monitoring the dynamics of price indicators in the coming months, taking into account changes in weather conditions and production volumes.
